AUTHOR’S UPDATE: WE ARE BUYING OUT OF MAMMOTH -1.5
(12:34pm ET on March 23, 2025)
The NLL sucks at announcing roster moves in a timely fashion, but Adam Levi has reported that Colorado starting goalie Dillon Ward will miss tonight’s game. The Black Bears also announced that top defender Callum Jones (who was listed as out on the injury report for this week and missed Friday’s game) is now active.
If you bet 1.05 unit on Colorado Mammoth -1.5 yesterday when I sent it out, my suggestion is to bet 1.05 unit on Black Bears +1.5 at +100 on DraftKings and then 0.5 unit on Black Bears ML at +150 on ESPN Bet (or as low as +130 elsewhere). I think the Black Bears will cover and win outright now so let’s try and make a little bit of profit. We’ll either make 0.75 unit or lose as much as 0.55 unit depending on how this game plays out.
If you didn’t bet Mammoth, then I suggest just 0.5 unit on Black Bears +1.5 and 0.5 unit on Black Bears ML.
Maybe one day the NLL will announce roster news more than 3 hours before game time and it will actually be accurate.
Ottawa Black Bears +1.5 (vs. COL): +100 on DraftKings
Ottawa Black Bears ML (vs. COL): +150 on ESPN Bet (0.5 unit)
Week 17 in the National Lacrosse League features four more games on Saturday and one on Sunday. However, I honestly couldn’t find anything I liked for Saturday.
I originally planned to bet Albany against a Buffalo team on short rest, but even with the line at 2.5, the rest advantage seems to be baked into the line enough with Albany +2.5 juiced to -134. I also think Buffalo intentionally took their foot off the gas on Friday night to rest their legs for Saturday. While I think Albany is live to cover and potentially win outright, I don’t think the edge is strong enough based on what I saw from Buffalo on Friday. We’ll be getting a fresh Chase Fraser and a still very lethal Buffalo offense against an Albany defense that has struggled numerous times this year.
Additionally, I was leaning over 22.5 in Toronto-Philadelphia but Tom Schreiber’s absence kept me away. San Diego-Calgary and Georgia-Vancouver should be phenomenal games with playoff implications, but the lines felt spot on to me. Ultimately, I’m targeting the lone Sunday game featuring Colorado and Ottawa.

The Black Bears host the Colorado Mammoth in Ottawa’s second game of the weekend. While I’m avoiding Buffalo’s back-to-back, I am targeting Ottawa’s second game of the weekend. I actually would make Colorado -159 on the moneyline before factoring in the rest advantage. After factoring the short rest for Ottawa, I have the Mammoth closer to -215.
So, I’ll be betting Colorado to win and cover the 1.5-point spread. While the Black Bears gave Halifax a run for their money, I think that game had more to do with the Thunderbirds being paper tigers than Ottawa turning a corner. Colorado’s defense is much better, ranking third in defensive efficiency.
While the Mammoth’s fourth-most efficient offense is currently without Zed Williams and Eli McLaughlin with Connor Kelly questionable, I still trust the Mammoth to get the job done against Ottawa. The Black Bears defense gives up a ton of shots and Colorado should have success against Zach Higgins both in settled situations and in transition. Ottawa entered the weekend allowing the second-most fastbreak goals and I expect Colorado to exploit that weakness.
Bet Mammoth -1.5 at -105 on bet365 or FanDuel.
