College Lacrosse Betting Picks and Predictions: NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Week 12 Saturday Best Bets

Week 12 in college lacrosse continues on Saturday with more conference chaos. I went off the beaten path for my two Saturday picks. Let’s take a look at the two totals I’m betting to wrap Week 12.

The NEC battle between LIU and VMI is expected to be a tight one, with the Keydets seeking to clinch a spot in the NEC tournament. Rather than target a team on the spread though, I like betting this total to stay Under 24.

Both offenses are moderately efficient, but their pacing is on the slower end. VMI edges LIU in terms of offensive efficiency, but their faceoff unit ranks fourth-worst during competitive situations. While LIU’s isn’t significantly better, I think they’ll be able to control the game more and should opt for a slower tempo.

Only two of LIU’s 12 games ans six of VMI’s 13 have gone over 24 and most of their games against NEC opponents of similar skill have been on the lower-scoring end. Expect this game to stay under the current total and bet Under 24 at -115 on DraftKings.

Pick: Under 24

Mercer at Jacksonville

Jacksonville has beaten up on a lot of their ASUN opponents this year, but I’m not sure it will be enough to push this total Over 25. Even when getting efficient performances out of their offense, only two of seven games have gone over this mark when the Dolphins are favored (and one of those was against the worst defense in the nation in Hampton).

Jacksonville’s offense ranks just 42nd in offensive efficiency and while that’s better than Mercer’s 65th, neither screams high-scoring game. Both teams’ defenses aren’t much better, but I’m expecting a similar result to some of Jacksonville’s other blowout wins against opponents of similar skill as Mercer. They beat Bellarmine 18-5, Queens 11-6 and Iona 18-4. Even if Jacksonville can get to a similar goal total, I don’t trust Mercer to be able to do their part. There’s also a possibility that the Mercer defense steps up like last season and we see another game closer to last year’s 8-7 finish.

Ultimately, this total is a few goals too high. Bet Under 25 at -115 on DraftKings.

Pick: Under 25
