National Lacrosse League Betting Picks: 2025 NLL Week 9 Best Bets

After a busy Week 8 where every National Lacrosse League team played, we get a four-game slate for NLL Week 9. Let’s take a look at the total and underdog I’m betting this weekend.

Note: The odds presented below are those at the time when Hutton sends his picks out on the Action App and are subject to change.

Georgia Swarm at TORONTO ROCK

The Georgia Swarm travel to Toronto to take on the Rock and I’m expecting a tight defensive battle. Georgia boasts the lowest goals against average at 7.7 goals per game and only 6.2 in their last five games. Toronto’s defense has been solid too, allowing just 10.4 goals per game, which ranks seventh.

Now, the Rock placed starting goaltender Nick Rose on IR and defender Latrell Harris will also be out, but I still trust backup Troy Holowchuk and this Toronto defense. Games featuring these two teams have stayed under 21.5 in eight of 11 games this season and I expect this one to follow suit. Toronto’s offense hasn’t managed to score more than 12 goals this season, averaging just 10.4 goals per game, and faces their toughest test this week. Meanwhile, Georgia’s offense has also been pedestrian in most of its games, with last week’s 19-goal beatdown of Calgary being an outlier. In their other five games, they’ve averaged just 8.2 goals per game and that’s the output I’d expect them to be closer to on Saturday.

If you have FanDuel, bet Under 22.5 at -110. I also like Under 21.5 as well on other sportsbooks.

Pick: Under 22.5

Oshawa FireWolves at Colorado Mammoth

Oshawa Moneyline/Spread+130 / +1.5
Colorado Moneyline/Spread-160 / -1.5

Despite the disparity in records, I think the Colorado Mammoth (4-2) and Oshawa FireWolves (2-5) are fairly evenly matched. Colorado has had some impressive wins over Vancouver, Rochester and Halifax, but they’ve also had a bad loss to Philadelphia and only scored three goals in their first meeting with Georgia. They’re arguably the hardest team to figure out and while the addition of Jack Hannah has already given them a boost, I think the loss of Ryan Lee will become more apparent as the season progresses. They’re a good team, but beatable on any given night and overly reliant on some stellar goaltending from Dillon Ward.

Meanwhile, the Oshawa FireWolves offense had a dreadful start to the season, but has started to turn the corner and acquired a big lefty in Dawson Theede this week. They’ve averaged 13.3 goals in their last three games and had a strong win over Halifax. Their most recent loss was to a Saskatchewan team that has cemented itself as the best team in the NLL through eight weeks and they only lost to Ottawa by a pair of goals in a game they allowed two empty-net goals and committed a costly five-minute major penalty that led to three straight goals for the Black Bears.

Ultimately, I think this game should be a pick ’em and expect this Oshawa defense to be able to keep Colorado’s offense in check. The Mammoth have relied heavily on some great individual effort by their top players like Jack Hannah and Will Malcolm, but I think the FireWolves defense will test them more than Rochester or Halifax did. Even with Andrew Kew back in the lineup, I trust Oshawa to keep this game close and like the odds for them to pull off the upset. Bet the Oshawa FireWolves moneyline at +130 on Caesars or BetRivers.

Pick: Oshawa FireWolves ML
