Every National Lacrosse League team returns to action this week and we have two Friday night games. Last week, we went 3-2 to improve to 25-17 for +6.815 units and an ROI of +15.5%. Let’s take a look at my best bets to start NLL Week 10.

The Vancouver Warriors travel to Halifax to take on the Thunderbirds on Friday night. Vancouver is a 1.5-point favorite on the road, but I don’t expect them to have trouble covering against Halifax.
The Thunderbirds defense finally put together a some what decent showing against Rochester two weeks ago, but it still wasn’t enough to win. Vancouver only scored eight on Ottawa, but they generated a ton of high-quality chances against a decent Black Bears defense that was bailed out by Zach Higgins often. Vancouver scored 15 against Halifax last year and should have no trouble having a similar output on Friday night.
Furthermore, the Warriors defense has drastically improved from last season thanks to the addition of Jeff Cornwall and elevated play of Owen Grant and Aden Walsh. Along with 2024 NLL Defender of the Year Ryan Dilks, this defense has been one of the best through nine weeks, holding teams to a league-low 9.1 goals allowed per game. Trust Vancouver to win by multiple goals and bet Warriors -1.5 at +116 on FanDuel.
Pick: Vancouver Warriors -1.5
Calgary Roughnecks at Ottawa Black Bears

The Calgary Roughnecks travel to Ottawa to face the Black Bears with Ottawa a 1.5-point favorite at home. I think these teams are evenly matched so rather than take a side, I’m targeting the total of 22.5
Ottawa has scored double digits in just three of seven games this season, but they’ve played some tough defenses lately (Vancouver, San Diego, Buffalo). On Friday, they’ll play a Calgary defense that hasn’t been very good with either Cam MacLeod or Colby Bowman in net and is allowing the third-worst goals against average behind only Las Vegas and Halifax. The Roughnecks also rank in my defensive efficiency metric, which measures how many non-empty net goals a team allows per 85 possessions using Ty Merrow’s sets (possessions) data. Calgary is allowing 13.76 goals per 85 possessions, which is even worse than both the Desert Dogs and Thunderbirds.
On the other end, Ottawa’s defense has played well, but has been way too reliant on Zach Higgins playing like the goaltender of the year. Calgary’s offense has enough firepower to score on Higgins and this Black Bears defense and I expect them to do their part to push this total Over 22.5.
Pick: Over 22.5
