The San Diego Seals host the Vancouver Warriors on Friday night and it’s a big game for both teams with some major playoff implications. These teams only combined for 20 goals in their first meeting back in January, but I don’t see this game being as low-scoring. Since that last game, San Diego traded defender Drew Belgrave for forward Dylan Watson, placed Jesse Gamble on the IR and signed forward Pat Kavanagh. Defender Kyle Rubisch will also miss his fifth straight game.

Ultimately, this San Diego defense isn’t nearly as strong as it was to over a month ago and the offense has seen notable improvement. I expect the Seals to have more success against this Vancouver defense even if Ryan Benesch isn’t able to suit up. The San Diego offense has scored at least 11 goals in their last three games against good defenses and appears to be on the rise.

Meanwhile, Vancouver’s defense has also been a bit banged up with defender Matt Beers questionable to make his return to the lineup after suffering a lower-body injury a few weeks ago. While the Warriors offense hasn’t been as impressive, they’ve been opportunistic in transition and San Diego has allowed the second-most fast break goals per game this season according to Ty Merrow. Vancouver is third in fast break goals scored per game and should be able to take advantage of San Diego’s weakness in transition.

Bet this game to go Over 20.5 at -110 on BetMGM, BetRivers or FanDuel.

Pick: Over 20.5
