Premier Lacrosse League Betting Picks and Predictions: PLL Week 1 Saturday Best Bets

We started the 2025 Premier Lacrosse League season going 4-5 for +0.135 units on Friday. While I don’t have as full of a card for Saturday, there are three props that I like for Utah Archers vs. Maryland Whipsnakes and New York Atlas vs. Boston Cannons. Let’s dive into what they are.

Note: The odds presented below are those at the time when Hutton sends his picks out on the Action App and are subject to change. Picks are sent out at least 20 minutes in advance of articles published on Bet On Lacrosse.

We get a rematch of last year’s championship game on ABC, with Utah a slight favorite over the Whipsnakes. I think the spread and total are sharp and while I give the slight edge to Utah, I’m excited to see how the Whipsnakes fair with new additions Rob Pannell, Aidan Carroll and Matt Brandau in the lineup and Brad Smith back after missing last season with an injury. Instead, I’m targeting another reliable player prop that has been profitable for the past two seasons.

The sportsbooks are in a tough spot when setting Connor Fields’ goals prop. They can’t really set it at 3.5 or higher, but Fields has recorded hat tricks so often that over 2.5 goals has been a profitable bet. Fields has scored three or more goals in 14 of 22 games that he played the entirety of the contest, including three of the last four games against the Whipsnakes.

While Maryland did a good job locking him off last year, he still managed to score a goal on just two shots in the championship. With Tom Schreiber back in the lineup and Sam King now on the roster, I expect Fields to get more opportunities than in the last game against the Whipsnakes. Bet Connor Fields Over 2.5 Goals at +132 on FanDuel or +130 on bet365.

I’m also betting this game to stay under 1.5 two-point goals at +102 on FanDuel. Maryland goalie Brendan Krebs is good at saving shots from beyond the arc and while Brett Dobson gave up 10 two-pointers last year, three came against the Cannons which were the best two-point shooting team last year. Maryland also took the fewest two-point shots of any team last season and two of Utah’s deep threats in Tre Leclaire (PUP list) and Ryan Aughavin (left in free agency) aren’t playing in this game. Trust these defenses to defend the two-ball well.

Pick: Connor Fields Over 2.5 Goals, Under 1.5 Two-Point Goals

Boston Cannons at New York ATlas

Boston Moneyline/Spread-128 / -1.5
New York Moneyline/Spread+104 / +1.5

Another matchup that I think will be tightly contested is the Boston Cannons vs. New York Atlas and I’m again passing on the spread and total. While I think 25.5 is a touch high considering my high expectations for these defenses, we’ve seen both offenses be extremely efficient so I’d rather sit this one out.

Instead, I’m betting the New York Atlas to be first to three points at -114 on FanDuel. Last season, the home teams were first to three points in the second game of their doubleheader in five of eight instances. While fatigue tends to set in later in the game, the home team usually starts fast. I like this bet even more due to how well New York plays to open games in general.

The Atlas have been the first to three points in seven of their last 12 games dating back to last season. This is largely due to Trevor Baptiste’s dominance at the faceoff stripe and New York’s efficiency off of faceoff wins. Baptiste should dominate again against Zac Tucci and I expect the Atlas to win the race to three points to start this game.

I’m also betting a 0.5 unit on Will Manny 1st Quarter Goal Scorer at +168 on FanDuel. Manny will get the start at attack, and his chemistry with Marcus Holman should make his return to the PLL fairly easy. Manny didn’t suit up for Boston at all last year, but practiced with the team for several weeks and led the Whipsnakes in points in 2023.

New York also struggled to defend off-ball against the Chaos and I expect Manny to find the cracks in their defense. I think he has a great shot at scoring multiple goals on Saturday and I am banking on one of them coming in the opening quarter.

Picks: New York Atlas First to Three Points, Will Manny 1Q Goal Scorer (0.5 unit)
