Week 8 in the Premier Lacrosse League culminates on Sunday with another ABC matchup featuring two Eastern Conference rivals. Let’s take a look at my favorite bets for Boston Cannons vs. New York Atlas…

The last meeting between these teams came down to the wire with New York scoring the eventual game-winner on a shorthanded goal. The Cannons’ attempt to tie it with 30 seconds left ringed off the pipe and Atlas escaped with a win. Boston’s offense took it to New York, but hit several pipes and were stifled by Liam Entenmann’s 17 saves.
I expect Cannons to come out on top in this meeting. The offense continues to thrive and is getting contributions from a variety of players. New York’s defense has been over reliant on Entenmann to bail them out and their struggles to defend in transition could reappear against Boston. Even with Trevor Baptiste back in the lineup, I trust Boston to secure their third staright win. I gave out Boston Cannons moneyline at +100 on USA Lacrosse Magazine, but still like it now at -105 on BetMGM or DraftKings.
In my USA Lacrosse Magazine preview, I highlighted the battle between Baptiste and McMeekin. I have no doubt that Baptiste will have success, but the long time off could allow McMeekin to get the better of him on Sunday.McMeekin has won 16 faceoffs or more in three of four games and should have plenty of chances in what I expect to be a high-scoring game. Bet a unit on Andrew McMeekin 15+ Faceoff Wins at +100 and a half unit on Andrew McMeekin 16+ Faceoff Wins at +150 on DraftKings.
I’m also trusting Coulter Mackesy and Marcus Holman to have big games on Sunday afternoon. Mackesy was held to a season-low one point when they last faced New York, but he had 44 touches, which was one shy of his season-high so far. His 45 touches led to five points last week, so I expect to see Mackesy make more of a dent on the stat sheet this time around. Bet Coulter Mackesy Over 2.5 Points at -120 on FanDuel and Coulter Mackesy 1+ Assist at -130 on DraftKings.
As for Holman, he had three goals on 12 shots against the Atlas last time around and nearly had fourth goal to tie the game. He’s demonstrated a great job of finding the seams in this Atlas defense and I like his odds to go over his points prop and potentially have another hat trick as well. Bet Marcus Holman Over 2.5 Points at -113 and a half unit on Marcus Holman Over 2.5 Goals at +136 on FanDuel.
As for first quarter goal scorers, I like Boston’s Jack Regnery and New York’s Hugh Kelleher. Regnery has been a sparkplug since joining the Cannons, with two goals in back-to-back games and a goal on 10 shots in his debut against New York. I like his odds to score in the opening frame and recommend betting 0.4 unit on Jack Regnery 1st Quarter Goal at +220 on FanDuel. Hugh Kelleher has scored in each of his last four games and his odds to score in the opening period are way to long. Bet a 0.2 unit on Hugh Kelleher 1st Quarter Goal at +450 on FanDuel.
