The Buffalo Bandits host the Calgary Roughnecks this weekend and are 2.5-point favorites at home. While Calgary acquired 2025 Goaltender of the Year Nick Rose to improve this defense, I’m not sure it will be enough against a Buffalo offense that has historically had success against Rose.
Buffalo is just better on both sides of the ball and by a wide margin in some cases. The Bandits rank first in offensive efficiency, scoring 14.2 goals per 85 offensive sets (sets data tracked by Ty Merrow), compared to Calgary’s fourth-ranked mark of 12.3. That Calgary offense is likely to be without forward Dane Dobbie, who is second on the team in goals this season.
Yet, the larger disparity is on the defensive side. Buffalo has the fourth-best defensive efficiency rating while Calgary ranked second-to-last entering this weekend. While Rose is an upgrade at goalie, the defense in front of him is still very thin and will have its hands full with this Bandits offense. Trust Buffalo to run away with this game and bet Bandits -2.5 at +105 on ESPN Bet.
I’m also betting Curtis Dickson to stay Under 6.5 points. While Dickson leads the Roughnecks in points, this Buffalo defense has only allowed players to record seven or more points in four of 10 games this season. While it will be tough to keep Dickson completely off the stat sheet, this line is a point too high. Dickson has stayed under 6.5 points in 34 of his last 47 games (72.34%) so -135 on bet365 is a great price to bet him to stay Under 6.5 points again.
Picks: Buffalo Bandits -2.5, Curtis Dickson Under 6.5 Points
Saskatchewan Rush at Georgia Swarm

The Saskatchewan Rush are closer to the top-ranked Buffalo Bandits than they are to the teams right below them in the standings. That was fairly evident in their close loss to Buffalo last week, but the sportsbooks still aren’t pricing the Rush that way.
I’m not sold on this Georgia team. The veteran leadership on defense, skill on offense and talented young goaltender in net are enough to give you confidence that Georgia will make the playoffs, but the Swarm is far too inconsistent on both sides of the ball to make too much noise in the postseason. Despite being third in the standings, Georgia has only beaten one team above .500 in Colorado (and they lost to them in their most recent matchup). They’ve also been bad against the spread this year, covering in only four of 11 games. While three of those covers came as an underdog, two were against a struggling San Diego team early in the season and an underperforming Toronto team. Saskatchewan has been consistently better than both the Seals and Rock and will be a much tougher task for this Swarm team.
Saskatchewan’s defense is better and their offense should have success against a Georgia defense that struggles at times and just traded away one of their young defenders in TJ Comizio. Georgia’s vulnerability in transition is also something I expect Saskatchewan to take full advantage of. Furthermore, Jake Naso should give the Rush a possession advantage thanks to a favorable matchup with Jeremy Thompson.
Ultimately, I expect Saskatchewan to be able to keep the Swarm offense in check and built a lead en route to a multi-goal victory. Bet Rush -1.5 at +130 on Caesars.
Pick: Saskatchewan Rush -1.5
