The Waterdogs face the Atlas for the second time this season and much like their second matchup last year, New York has already locked up the top seed and a first-round bye in the playoffs. Unlike last season, Philly has a playoff spot on the line and I expect them to not only cover, but win outright.

When these teams played earlier in the season, New York demolished Philadelphia by a score of 17-9, but the result on the scoreboard doesn’t tell the entire story. New York goaltender Liam Entenmann made a career-high 22 saves and Matt DeLuca only stopped seven of New York’s 23 shots on goal. Yet, Philly finished with more shots on goal, fewer turnovers and more caused turnovers. Waterdogs faceoff specialist Alec Stathakis also won more faceoffs against Trevor Baptiste. Entenmann’s performance was the main reason for the Atlas’ big win and I think it will be hard to blow out Philly again this time.

There’s also the context that New York has nothing to play for and could opt to rest starters later in the game and even pull Entenmann at some point, regardless of performance. The Waterdogs can punch their playoff ticket with a win, but can also sneak in if they lose by two or fewer goals. Ultimately, Philly will have a ton of motivation in what would normally be an already close game. This is why I love a full-unit bet on Philadelphia Waterdogs +1.5 at +100 and a half unit on Philadelphia Waterdogs ML at +145 on DraftKings.

We correctly predicted CJ Kirst’s breakout game against Boston last week, and I don’t see him slowing down anytime soon, even against this strong Atlas defense. Kirst could be the X-factor in cracking this New York defense, since it forces the Atlas to either move his college teammate Gavin Adler onto him or keep Adler on Sowers and defend Kirst with Michael Rexrode or Brett Makar. I anticipate we’ll see the latter strategy, but it’s a dilemma that New York didn’t deal with in the last meeting. Regardless of the matchup or role Kirst will play, I expect him to thrive and recommend betting CJ Kirst Over 2.5 Points at -115 on bet365.

As for the Atlas, I already mentioned the possibility that Entenmann doesn’t finish the entire game if New York feels it could present an unnecessary risk to the likely goaltender of the year. His saves prop is set at 15.5, which is a mark he’s gone over in six of 16 career games. At -114 on FanDuel, I like the odds to bet Liam Entenmann Under 15.5 Saves.

Finally, I’m betting a 0.3 unit on Reid Bowering 1st Quarter Goal Scorer at +300 on FanDuel. Since joining the lineup this season, Bowering has had a goal in four of six games, including a pair against Philly earlier in the year. He and Jeff Teat have terrific chemistry on the left side, and I love the odds to bet Bowering to score in the opening 12 minutes.

Picks: Philadelphia Waterdogs +1.5, Philadelphia Waterdogs ML (0.5 unit), CJ Kirst Over 2.5 Points, Liam Entenmann Under 15.5 Saves, Reid Bowering 1Q Goal Scorer (0.3 unit)

The final game of the 2025 PLL regular season will be for the final playoff spot, and I expect a shootout between these two teams. I lean Over 24.5, especially with the potential of an overtime finish, but the safer wager is to bet the 1st Half Over 12.5 at -115 on DraftKings. These teams could opt for longer, slower possessions later in the game if one of them has a lead and scoring could be much lower. To avoid that, taking the first half total is the better bet. Games featuring these teams have seen 13 or more goals in 10 of the 17 games, and there were 12 in the first half of the last meeting between these teams. I think they’ll hit at least 13 in the first half of the final game of the regular season.

I’m also banking on TJ Malone to have another big performance. Malone has had four or more points in 13 of 22 career games, including his last two games against Boston. I expect him to get plenty of chances to both score and assist and recommend betting TJ Malone Over 3.5 Points at -145 on bet365 or DraftKings. I also like the odds for him to record a hat trick and suggest a half unit on TJ Malone Over 2.5 Goals at +164 on FanDuel.

After cashing Marcus Holman’s first quarter goal scorer prop at odds of +140 on Friday, DraftKings has inexplicably given use even better odds for Saturday. Holman has had a goal in all but one game this season and has scored in the first quarter in seven of those eight games. Now, that lone goose egg did come against Maryland earlier in the year, but I think it will be tough for Maryland to replicate their complete shutdown of Holman. I love betting attackman’s first goal scorer props at +140 odds or better and Holman has been one of the best bets to make in this market all season. Bet a 0.5 unit on Marcus Holman 1st Quarter Goal Scorer at +150 on DraftKings.

Picks: 1st Half Over 12.5, TJ Malone Over 3.5 Points, TJ Malone Over 2.5 Goals (0.5 unit), Marcus Holman 1st Quarter Goal Scorer (0.5 unit)

2025 PLL Season Best Bets: 88-75 for +19.965 units
All bets are to win 1 unit or more (i.e. 1.2 units at -120, 1 unit at +120) unless otherwise specified.
