Albany hosts the Las Vegas Desert Dogs with both seeking to snap losing streaks. The FireWolves are 2.5-point favorites at home, but I’m not ready to bet them as a big favorite even though I expect them to secure the win. Las Vegas has ran out of gas in all their games, but has actually been competitive with teams early on and could keep it close. Albany will also be without two of their top defenders, John Wagner and Jackson Nishimura. Because of that, I also lean over 21.5, but am targeting a player prop instead of betting the total.

So far this season, Alex Simmons hasn’t played up to the standards he set last year, but I think this is a good opportunity to bet him to go over his points prop of 5.5 at +100 on bet365.

While he’s only gone over this once in four games this season, he’s had six or more points in 14 of his 27 career games. I also like the matchup against a struggling Las Vegas defense. Last year, the Desert Dogs held Simmons to just four and three points in their two meetings, but both games occurred early in Simmons’ rookie season and arguably Las Vegas’ best defender at the time was the aforementioned Wagner, who is now on Albany. This season, the Desert Dogs defense has allowed a league-high 15.8 goals per game and has struggled mightly.

Albany also added right-handed forward Callum Crawford and while Crawford will defintely eat into Simmons’ touches, I think he’ll alleviate some of the defensive pressure on Simmons. Simmons could rack up assists quickly if Crawford has another big game against a Desert Dogs defense that he’s dominated in the past.

Bet Simmons to go over 5.5 points on Saturday night.

Pick: Alex Simmons Over 5.5 Points

Rochester Knighthawks at Georgia Swarm

Rochester Moneyline/Spread+190 / +2.5
Georgia Moneyline/Spread-240 / -2.5

Rochester travels to Georgia seeking to snap a four-game losing streak—no small task against the only 4-0 team in the NLL. Georgia is between a 1.5 and 2.5-point favorite depending on the sportsbook, but all four of their victories have been close wins. I think Rochester could keep it close, but I’d rather target the total, which ranges from 21.5 to 22.5, and recommend betting the over.

Rochester’s offense hasn’t been as effective as of late, but have played aggressive defenses (Buffalo twice, Saskatchewan and Vancouver) in their four losses. Georgia’s defense is also very good, but I don’t expect them to press out as much as their three previous opponents. Rochester also added a faceoff specialist in Mike Sisselberger, which should allow them to go on more scoring runs than they’ve been able to in previous games. Expect them to have more success on offense on Saturday.

The bet on the over has even more to do with Georgia’s offense, which has looked great against solid defenses. The Swarm’s ball movement has been impeccable and should have a lot of success against a weak Rochester defense. While Riley Hutchcraft has played better recently, he’s been asked to do a lot, with Rochester’s defense allowing an average of 58 shots per game. Expect them to struggle to keep Lyle Thompson and Co. in check on Saturday.

I recommend betting to win a unit on over 21.5 (-125 on Caesars) and a half unit on over 22.5 (+105 on BetMGM).

I’m also betting Connor Fields to go over 4.5 points at -130 on bet365.

Fields has gone over this mark in 15 of his last 24 games, including three of five this season, and recorded eight points in each of his games against Georgia last year. The addition of Sisselberger should give Rochester several more possessions this game and defenders Adam Wiedemann and Jeff Henrick both being out for Georgia should provide more opportunities for this Rochester offense.

Picks: Over 21.5, Over 22.5 (0.5 unit), Connor Fields Over 4.5 Points
