National Lacrosse League Betting Picks and Predictions: NLL Week 9 Best Bets

There are only four National Lacrosse League games this week, but we once again have points props courtesy of bet365. I’m targeting three games in particular, so let’s take a look at my best bets for NLL Week 9.

This week’s TSN Game of the Week features the Toronto Rock and Calgary Roughnecks. The return of Tom Schreiber and TD Ierlan not only helped the Rock secure their first win of the season last week, it also propelled them up my power rankings. While Calgary’s win over Georgia isn’t anything to shrug off, I think they could have their hands full with a Toronto team getting healthy at the right time.

Not only are Challen Rogers, Schreiber and Ierlan all healthy—the latter who will help limit Justin Inacio’s impact at the faceoff dot—but Lattrell Harris also returns to the lineup, which will bolster the defense and provide another weapon in transition. The Toronto defense has also played better with Nick Rose having his best game last week against a good Saskatchewan offense.

While Calgary has the offensive firepower to hang with Toronto, I worry that it could be a long day for netminder Cam McLeod and the Roughnecks defense. They’re allowing the third-highest goals against average with 13.8 per game and are the second-least efficient defense in the league behind only the Las Vegas Desert Dogs. Their offense has been extremely opportunistic, but I think Toronto is able to come away with a multi-goal win.

Bet Toronto moneyline at -120 on Caesars at a half unit on Rock -1.5 at +115 on bet365.

Picks: Toronto Rock ML, Toronto Rock -1.5 (0.5 unit)

Ottawa Black Bears at Vancouver Warriors

The Black Bears and Warriors face each other for the second straight week. These teams were evenly matched in their first meeting and are nearly identical in my power ratings this week. Instead, I’m betting the total and a player prop.

While both defenses have been strong lately and held each other to single digits last week, I actually think the offenses will have more success. Both goaltenders were lights out last week, each with a save percentage north of 79%. Yet, both Zach Higgns and Aden Walsh made some specatular saves and I’m not sure they’ll both be able to replicate their performances from a week ago. Familiarity could lead to better performances from the offenses.

This total is a couple points too low in my opinion. Bet this game to go over 20.5 at -115 on Caesars.

I also recommend betting Keegan Bal to go over 4.5 points at -110 on bet365. Bal has gone over this mark in 17 of his last 24 games and his shot volume was high against Ottawa despite only recoding three points in the loss. Expect Bal to bounce back and recod five or more points on Friday night.

Picks: Over 20.5, Keegan Bal Over 4.5 Points

Albany FireWolves at Saskatchewan Rush

Albany Moneyline/Spread+105 / -1.5
Saskatchewan Moneyline/Spread-135 / +1.5

The FireWolves and Rush face each other for the second time this season, with their last meeting seeing Saskatchewan win an overtime thriller in Albany. While I think the Rush will come away with another win, I’m expecting another close game. The Rush should have an edge on offense as they face an injury-riddled defense that will again be without defenders Colton Watkinson, Jackson Nishimura and John Wagner again.

So, instead of betting a side or total, I’m targeting Saskatchewn forward Zach Manns’s points prop of 4.5 on Saturday night.

Manns has surpassed this amount in 15 of 24 games with the Rush, including their last two games against Albany. While Nishimura, Wagner and Watkinson are all lefties, thier absence should open up Manns as a passer. Manns also has a ton of range and Doug Jamieson has been prone to allowing outside shots often this season.

Ultimately, this is a great spot to bet Zach Manns to go over 4.5 points at -140 on bet365.

Pick: Zach Manns Over 4.5 Points
