The Cannons host the Redwoods in Boston with a playoff spot on the line for each team. California can punch it’s ticket and eliminate the Archers from playoff contention, while Boston can secure a spot in the East side of the bracket and put Waterdogs and Whipsnakes in essentially must-win territory. I lean the Cannons in this game, but I’m still not sold on their defense even with the Boston offense seemingly finding its groove. Instead, I’ll be betting a few player props for this game.

Boston struggles to defend shifty offensive players and this matchup could be a prime opportunity for Redwoods midifielder Andrew McAdorey to do some damage. I expect him to see McAdorey invert from behind plenty and attack his matchup often. Even at -113, I like the matchup enough to bet Andrew McAdorey Over 1.5 Goals on FanDuel.

As for the Cannons, I’m targeting three of their attackmen’s props. Asher Nolting has recorded four points in three straight games and half his games this season. He was arguably at his best last weekend, showcasing his abilities as a goal scorer and generating offense for his linemates. He recorded four points against a similar California defense last year and I like the odds to bet him to have a similar stat line against the Redwoods again, even with Cole Kastner now on this Redwoods defense. Bet Asher Nolting Over 3.5 Points at +140 on bet365.

Coulter Mackesy is listed as a midfielder this week, but should operate in a similar capacity as last week on the left-side with Will Manny. The pairing of Mackesy and Manny might be the move that gets this Boston offense back on track, as both played very well together and Mackesy’s dodging ability in particular helped open up things more for Boston. Despite his touches taking a dip last game, Mackesy remained efficient out of the box and he’s recorded three points in all but his very first game as a pro. I like the odds to bet him to do so again on Friday and recommend betting Coulter Mackesy Over 2.5 Points at -130 on DraftKings.

Finally, I’m betting a half unit on Marcus Holman 1st Quarter Goal Scorer at +140 on DraftKings. Holman has had a goal in all but one game this season and six of those seven games, he had a goal in the first quarter. Last year, he had four against California and I expect him to get plenty of early opportunties to cash in. His first quarter goal scorer odds aren’t plus money often and are rarely higher than +115 when they are.

Picks: Andrew McAdorey Over 1.5 Goals, Asher Nolting Over 3.5 Points, Coulter Mackesy Over 2.5 Points, Marcus Holman 1Q Goal Scorer (0.5 unit)

Carolina Chaos vs. Utah Archers

Carolina Moneyline/Spread-144 / -1.5
Utah Moneyline/Spread+118 / +1.5

The Utah Archers face the Carolina Chaos and will need California to lose to have any chance of making the playoffs. It will be an uphill battle for the defending champs who will also need to erase a nine-point score differential disparity in order to leap frog the Redwoods even if they lose to Boston. I don’t expect the Archers to go down without a fight against a Carolina team that they already beat and has nothing to play for. Still, I think there are better ways to back a Utah team that is 0-9 against the spread even as underdogs for the second straight game.

We’ll start with Brett Dobson, who should see plenty of rubber in this game with Utah opting to not dress a faceoff specialist, likely giving Carolina a possession advantage. Just because Carolina should have more possessions, doesn’t necessarily mean they will be quality ones and I expect Dobson to see a lot of stoppable shots on Friday night. Dobson has had 15 or more saves in six of nine games this season, including 17 in his last meeting with the Chaos. Trust the Archers netminder to have a big day and bet Brett Dobson Over 14.5 Saves at -120 on DraftKings.

I’m also betting two of Sam King’s props. The Archers rookie leads the team in points and has taken on a bigger role with Grant Ament and Matt Moore missing time at different points of the season. King has had three or more points in six of nine games this season, including three against Carolina in their last meeting. We’ll see King start on attack again this weekend and I expect him to be the main driver of this Archers offense in his Harvard homecoming. Bet Sam King Over 2.5 Points at -130 on bet365 and 0.3 unit on Sam King 1st Quarter Goal Scorer at +150 on DraftKings.

I’m also betting 0.2 unit on Adam Charalambides 1st Quarter Goal Scorer at +210 on FanDuel. Charalambides has scored in every game this season except Carolina’s last meeting with Utah, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he found the back of the net in this game. He’s averaged 5.5 shots and 3.5 shots on goal this season and his toucheds haven’t dipped much even with Owen Hiltz’s insertion into the lineup. With Hiltz likely the main focuse for Utah’s defense, I could see Charalambides as a beneficiary early and like the odds to bet him to score in the opening quarter.

Picks: Brett Dobson Over 14.5 Saves, Sam King Over 2.5 Points, Sam King 1Q Goal Scorer (0.3 unit), Adam Charalambides 1Q Goal Scorer (0.2 unit)

2025 PLL Season Best Bets: 82-73 for +17.425 units
All bets are to win 1 unit or more (i.e. 1.2 units at -120, 1 unit at +120) unless otherwise specified.
