We had a profitable Friday night to start Week 8 in the Premier Lacrosse League, going 7-5 for +3.49 units and improving our 2025 PLL record to 61-52 for +14.815 units. Let’s try to add to that with a few more totals and props I like for Saturday’s games.

The Boston Cannons and Denver Outlaws square off in an interconference matchup on ABC, and I’m expecting this to be the best game of the weekend. Denver seeks to add to their four-game win streak, while Boston is hoping to snap a two-game skid. I think the Outlaws will eventually outlast the Cannons, but still think this game will be close. Rather than bet a side, I’m targeting some player props.
I’m fading this Boston defense in a few ways this game. The Cannons continue to struggle against shifty speedsters (Michael Sowers, TJ Malone, Connor Shellenberger, etc.) and I don’t think their matchup against Denver will be an exception. Bryce Young was traded to Boston for his inability to cover fast attackman and Garrett Epple and Jack Kielty are much better at winning more physical matchups than fast matchups. This is a great opportunity to bet the shiftiest players on Denver: Jared Bernhardt and Pat Kavanagh.
I expect plenty of inverts from Bernhardt and wouldn’t be surprised if we see him on attack for the majority of the game. Regardless of where he plays, he’s going to be a matchup nightmare for Boston and I expect him to thrive as a goal scorer and feeder. Bet Jared Bernhardt Over 2.5 Points at +118 on FanDuel or +110 on bet365, BetMGM and DraftKings.
Pat Kavanagh, while not as fast, should have similar success, and I could see him delivering a similar stat line as Sowers or Shellenberger did as a passer. Kavanagh still leads the league in touches per game and should be heavily involved in Denver’s offensive success on Saturday. Bet Pat Kavanagh Over 3.5 Points at +100 on BetMGM.
Pat Kavanagh isn’t the only former Cannon I’m betting on in a “revenge game.” Jonathan Donville was released by Boston a couple weeks ago and was picked up by Denver. The Outlaws have a ton of talented dodgers, but have lacked an off-ball threat of Donville’s caliber. Donville played with a few of his new teammates during his year at Maryland and is excellent in the pick-and-roll game. I expect him to get some scoring chances and like the odds to bet him to score in the first period. Bet a 0.25 unit on Jonathan Donville 1st Quarter Goal Scorer at +360 on FanDuel.
While I expect Denver to have its way with the Boston defense, I think this could be a good get-right spot for the Cannons’ offense. Coach Brian Holman tinkered with the lineup a bit, inserting Jules Heningburg and Will Manny. Boston’s main issue this season has been a lack of dodgers who can win their matchups, with only Matt Campbell consistently beating his defenders. Heningburg’s dodging ability, in particular, should help open up opportunities for Boston’s off-ball threats, specifically Marcus Holman. While I’m not prepared to fully fade the Logan McNaney-led Denver defense, I expect Holman to get a healthy amount of shots on cage. Holman has had four or more shots on goal in 11 of his last 17 games and I like the odds to bet him to do so again. Bet Marcus Holman Over 3.5 Shots On Goal at -115 on DraftKings.
Picks: Jared Bernhardt Over 2.5 Points, Pat Kavanagh Over 3.5 Points, Jonathan Donville 1Q Goal Scorer (0.25 unit), Marcus Holman Over 3.5 SOG
Philadelphia Waterdogs vs. Maryland Whipsnakes

The Philadelphia Waterdogs and Maryland Whipsnakes meet in the second matchup between these Mid-Atlantic rivals. I think the odds for this game are fairly sharp, but I do like the value on the total at 24.5.
The last meeting between these teams featured 28 combined goals and games featuring at least one of these teams are 7-4 to the over this season. Both offenses are highly efficient and the defenses have shown a tendency to give up transition this year. Bet this game to go Over 24.5 at -105 on bet365.
I also think the possibility of some two-pointers will help push this total over. When these teams last played, Brad Smith scored a pair of two-point goals (though one was a flukey deflection). Yet, it’s not just Smith who has range. Maryland and Philly both have long poles who like to push in transition and can score from beyond the arc and Connor Kelly and Jack Hannah are some deep threats who will also feature in this game. Philly’s starting goalie, Dillon Ward, has also struggled defending the two-point shot since last season and also helps our case. Bet Over 1.5 Two-Point Goals at +136 on FanDuel.
Finally, I’m betting TJ Malone Over 4.5 Shots On Goal at -120 on DraftKings. I expect Malone to get back on track this game and be aggressive as a shooter. He’s gone over this mark in 11 of his 19 career games and I expect Maryland to be get the ball in his stick as much as possible on Saturday.
Picks: Over 24.5, Over 1.5 Two-Point Goals, TJ Malone Over 4.5 SOG
