In my USA Lacrosse Magazine preview, I made the case to bet Maryland Whipsnakes -1.5 at +105 on Caesars based on the key injuries to Jared Bernhardt and Pat Kavanagh, who both will miss Saturday’s game. It seems like Brennan O’Neill and JT Giles-Harris will play, but both were listed as questionable and aren’t fully healthy. Maryland is dealing with some injuries of their own, with Matt Brandau and Petey LaSalla set to miss, but those absences should be less impactful. (We just saw Carolina win this weekend without playing a faceoff specialist and losing every draw.) Denver’s defense should still give Maryland some trouble, but I think the Whipsnakes defense will do enough to help the team win by at least a few goals.
As I explained in my Chaos-Redwoods preview, teams not starting a faceoff specialist will likely see more shots against, but not necessarily quality shots. So, I recommend betting an Emmet Carroll saves escalator. He’s made at least 12 saves in six of nine games this season and 13 out of 17 career games and I think he should see a healthy amount of savable shots on Saturday. Bet Emmet Carroll Over 11.5 Saves at -110 on BetMGM and Emmett Carroll 13+ Saves (+105), a half unit on 14+ Saves (+160), and a 0.3 unit on 15+ Saves (+240) on DraftKings.
I’m also expecting a strong performance from TJ Malone. Malone was held scoreless by Denver the last time they faced, but actually had some quality shots on goal and assist opportunities that his teammates just didn’t cash in on. I expect him to put up some points this time around and like his odds. Bet TJ Malone 3+ Points at -104 on FanDuel.
Finally, I’m also betting a pair of 1st quarter goal scorers. Dalton Young will get the start on attack in Pat Kavanagh’s absence and, with no one to really contend with Luke Wierman at the faceoff stripe, should have some early chances to score on fast breaks. For Maryland, expect Adam Poitras to be heavily involved on offense with Matt Brandau out of the lineup. Bet 0.4 unit on Dalton Young 1st Quarter Goal (+230) and 0.3 unit on Adam Poitras 1st Quarter Goal (+270) on FanDuel.

Carolina secured a key win over California on Friday, and I think they’ll keep the good vibes rolling. I gave out Carolina Chaos Moneyline at +130 on BetMGM in my USA Lacrosse Magazine preview. I think Carolina’s defense can limit this Philadelphia offense, and the Chaos have the midfielders to exploit the Waterdogs’ weakness at short-stick defensive midfield.
As for props, I’m expecting Jarrod Neumann to be able to keep CJ Kirst Under 3.5 Goals (-140 on BetMGM). Kirst is one goal away from tying and two goals away from breaking the single-season goals record, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he did it on Saturday. Yet, Neumann handled the matchup when guarding Kirst, and a lot of Kirst’s production came when Philadelphia was able to get Kirst switched onto short-stick defenders. The Waterdogs could certainly be successful at generating those switches again, but I trust Carolina to do a better job of keeping Neumann on Kirst and like the odds for him to stay under this goal total.
For Carolina, I’m going back to the well and betting an escalator of Blaze Riorden saves. Riorden has had back-to-back games of at least 17 saves and stopped 14 when these teams last met. The shot volume should once again be high with the Chaos choosing not to play a faceoff specialist and conceding 32-second possessions off the faceoff. Bet Blaze Riorden 13+ Saves (-104), a half unit on 14+ Saves (+126), and a 0.25 unit on 15+ Saves (+172) on FanDuel.
Another Carolina player I expect to have success is Shane Knobloch. Knobloch has scored in all but one game this season and has had multiple goals in four of those 10 games, including his last two games. He’s starting to get hot and gets a good matchup against this Philly SSDM unit. Bet Shane Knobloch Over 1.5 Goals at -125 on DraftKings and 0.4 unit on Shane Knobloch 1st Quarter Goal at +220 on FanDuel.
And for a bonus bet, I present a chance to bet a mispriced two-point goal prop: BetMGM is offering total two-point goals and an overtime prop, but accidentally gave the two-point goal prop the odds for the overtime prop. At the time of publication, you can bet Over 1.5 Two-Point Goals at +800 on BetMGM (FanDuel has the odds for the over at +142 for comparison). I will exclude this one from my best bets record and results since it probably won’t be up for very long, but it’s worth a wager if you have access to BetMGM and can grab it.

The final game of the weekend is between the Atlas and Redwoods, both fighting for their playoff lives. New York’s playoff chances are already slim, but a loss would all but eliminate them. The Atlas have had some heartbreaking losses and dealt with injuries and absences. In fact, they were missing Bryan Costabile and Matt Traynor in their loss to California earlier in the season.
In my USA Lacrosse Magazine preview, I predicted that the Atlas would pull off the upset. They still have the offensive pieces and dodging threats to exploit this Redwoods defense, and their defense should be able to match the physicality of Dylan Molloy and the quickness of Chris Kavanagh. Liam Entenmann had an uncharacteristically poor performance when these teams last played, but I expect more of what we saw last week against the Waterdogs. Bet New York Atlas Moneyline at +110 on BetMGM.
As for props, I think there’s a good chance that we see a couple of two-point goals on Sunday. Dillon Ward and Entenmann have both been prone to giving two-point goals, and both teams have a couple of deep threats on the offensive end. Bet Over 1.5 Two-Point Goals at +108 on FanDuel.
One of those players who could hit a two-pointer is Costabile. Costabile leads the league with six two-point goals, has had multiple goals in half of his games, and has had three points or more in five of those eight games this season. I think he’ll find success against this Redwoods defense and recommend betting Bryan Costabile Over 1.5 Goals at -106 and Bryan Costabile Over 2.5 Points at +126 on FanDuel.
