Week 4 in the Premier Lacrosse League kicks off with back-to-back games on ESPN and ESPN2. All four Eastern Conference teams are in action on Saturday and the results will have major implications on the East standings. Last weekend, we went 10-7 for +3.855 units—our best week of the season units-wise. Let’s take a look at my best bets to start Week 4.

The highest total of the weekend is between the Philadelphia Waterdogs and New York Atlas at 25.5 at all sportsbooks but bet365. This total is rightly high and might not be high enough. Both teams have been fueled by high-powered offenses, and neither defense has looked all that efficient, with vulnerabilities in transition. If you have access to bet365, then I recommend a bet on Over 24.5 at -120. If you can’t get 24.5, then I’d pass on the full-game spread and instead bet 1st Half Over 13 at -120 on DraftKings. I expect both offenses to start strong, with both extremely efficient in short shot clock situations, and neither defense is particularly strong defending fast breaks.
As for player props, I recommend betting Kieran McArdle 5+ Shots On Goal at +110 on DraftKings. McArdle has had five or more shots on goal in 13 of his last 10 games, 17 of his last 26, and all of his last four meetings with New York. Expect him to put enough shots on net, even if he’s not able to get them past Liam Entenmann.
Someone I expect to take a lot of shots and find the back of the net at least twice is Xander Dickson. Dickson has multiple goals in nine of his last 14 games and the level that a healthy Connor Shellenberger is playing should be the catalyst for more goal-scoring success for his former UVA linemate. Bet Xander Dickson Over 1.5 Goals at -130 on FanDuel.
I’m also trusting Jeff Teat in a bounce-back spot. Teat has had five or more points in three of his last four games against the Waterdogs and has gone over 3.5 points in 10 of his last 14 games and 4.5 points in nine of his last 14 games. So, we’ll ladder his points props and bet to win a full unit on Over 3.5 Points at -145 on bet365 and 0.25 unit on Over 4.5 Points at +140 on DraftKings.
Finally, I’m taking a flyer on Jake Stevens to have a goal in the first period. Trevor Baptiste should dominate at the faceoff stripe, which should lead to plenty of offensive chances for Jake Stevens off the wing. Stevens has also been operating more in a defensive midfielder role with Danny Logan injured, but Logan is expected to play Saturday and that should lead to more offensive chances for Stevens. Stevens had seven shots on goal in two games agains Philly last year, scoring on one of those shots. I think the odds are good enough for a 0.3 unit-bet on Jake Stevens 1st Quarter Goal Scorer at +230 on FanDuel.
There are also some futures I like ahead of this game. I’m adding the Philadelphia Waterdogs to win the championship to my futures portfolio at +480 on FanDuel. While the odds are much shorter than what you could have bet before the season, I think Philly is the best team in the East and now might still be the best time to buy in going forward.
I also recommend a small bet on Connor Shellenberger Most Regular Season Points at +4000 on bet365 and FanDuel. Shellenberger currently sits in fourth place in points behind only Michael Sowers, Dylan Molloy and TJ Malone. He appears to be full healthy after dealing with nagging injuries last season and it’s clear teams would rather focus on Teat and take their chances with Shelly instead. I expect his success to continue and think he’s worth a bet to potentially finish with the most points in the PLL.
Picks: 1st Half Over 13, Over 24.5, Kieran McArdle 5+ SOG, Xander Dickson Over 1.5 Goals, Jeff Teat Over 3.5 Points & Over 4.5 Points (0.25 unit), Jake Stevens 1Q Goal Scorer (0.3 unit)
Boston Cannons at Maryland Whipsnakes

The Maryland Whipsnakes host the Boston Cannons in their first game of a doubleheader. These teams split their two matchups last season, but I think Boston has a solid edge in this game. The Cannons can win in a variety of ways, as seen in their 16-12 win over New York and 9-8 win over Utah. Maryland’s comeback last week, while impressive, overshadowed the defensive issues that continue to plague them and their inconsistency on offense.
With Jack Kielty back in the lineup this season, Boston’s defense has played much better and Maryland doesn’t have the dynamic offense needed to attack them like Philly did. I’m also expecting Boston’s offense to be able to spread out Maryland and have success against either of the Whipsnakes’ goaltenders. I expect Boston to win and eventually pull away enough to cover the spread. Bet Cannons -1.5 at +110 on BetMGM, Caesars or FanDuel.
I’m also betting the props for two Maryland players. TJ Malone has shown he score in a variety of ways and the Whipsnakes want the ball in his stick as much as possible. Still, his shots on goals prop of 6.5 is outrageously high. In his 16 PLL career games, Malone has gone over this line just once and has only had six or more shots on goal twice. He had a career-high seven last week, so I think recency bias is playing a part in this line. I’m not sure Malone will even get off seven shots on Saturday, let alone seven on goal. Don’t fear the juice and bet TJ Malone Under 6.5 Shots On Goal at -190 on DraftKings.
While I expect Boston to keep most of Maryland’s offense in check, I think Rob Pannell will record at least two assists, giving him the record for most assists in pro field lacrosse history. RP3 had three assists last week despite missing the most of the first quarter. He also has averaged four assist opportunities through three games, so I like the odds for him to record a pair and break Ryan Boyle’s all-time record on Saturday night. Bet Rob Pannell 2+ Assists at +125 on DraftKings.
Picks: Boston Cannons -1.5, TJ Malone Under 6.5 SOG, Rob Pannell 2+ Assists
2025 PLL Season Best Bets: 22-21 for +4.92 units
All bets are to win 1 unit or more (i.e. 1.2 units at -120, 1 unit at +120) unless otherwise specified.
