The 2026 Premier Lacrosse League season is finally here! I broke down each game for USA Lacrosse Magazine and gave out a few best bets already. Yet, I have plenty more picks for opening weekend, particularly player props.
Note: The odds presented below are those at the time when Hutton sends his picks out on the Action App and are subject to change.
California Redwoods at Utah Archers
California Moneyline/Spread | -140 / -1.5 |
Utah Moneyline/Spread | +110 / +1.5 |
| Total | 23.5 |

I detailed why I expect the Redwoods to win this game by multiple goals in my USA Lacrosse Magazine, giving out California Redwoods -1.5 at +106 on FanDuel. I think the Archers’ multiple absences on both defense and offense will be too much to overcome in the season opener. Yet, given these absences, expect Sam King to have a large role on offense for Utah. He’ll likely start on attack and Coach Chris Bates mentioned that they plan to use him all over the field, so he should have ample opportunities as a goal-scorer or feeder. So, I recommend betting Sam King Over 2.5 Points at +102 on FanDuel.
I also discussed attackmen Michael Boehm and Brayden Mayea as two players to watch. Both will be starting at attack for California in the absence of Chris Kavanagh and Ryder Garnsey, so I recommend betting 0.3 unit on each of Michael Boehm to score a 1st quarter goal and Brayden Mayea to score a 1st quarter goal, both at +210 on FanDuel.
I also think that goaltenders Nick Washuta and presumably Dillon Ward could give up some two-point goals in this game. Given the handful of deep threats playing in this game, I recommend betting Over 1.5 Two-Point Goals at -125 on FanDuel.
Picks: California Redwoods -1.5, Sam King Over 2.5 Points, Michael Boehm 1Q Goal Scorer (0.3 unit) Brayden Mayea 1Q Goal Scorer (0.3 unit), Over 1.5 Two-Point Goals
Carolina Chaos vs. New York ATlas
Carolina Moneyline/Spread | +110 / +1.5 |
New York Moneyline/Spread | -140 / -1.5 |
| Total | 24.5 |

I expect the first upset of the season to come in this game, with the Carolina Chaos taking down the defending champs. I gave out Carolina Chaos moneyline at +110 on DraftKings my USA Lacrosse Magazine preview, but like a few player props as well.
Shane Knobloch is coming off a terrific 2026 PLL Championship Series and appeared fully healthy in that tournament. His odds to score a goal in the opening frame are too long, especially given the absences on this Atlas defense. Bet 0.3 unit on Shane Knobloch to score a 1st quarter goal at +185 on FanDuel.
I also like Carolina midfielder Chris Aslanian’s odds to score a two-pointer. Aslanian has scored a two-point goal in seven of his last 21 games, so +470 is actually a great price. Bet 0.1 unit on Chris Aslanian to score a two-point goal at +470 on FanDuel.
Picks: Carolina Chaos ML, Shane Knobloch 1Q Goal Scorer (0.3 unit), Chris Aslanian to Score a 2PG (0.1 unit)
Philadelphia Waterdogs vs. Maryland Whipsnakes
Philadelphia Moneyline/Spread | -115 / -1.5 |
Maryland Moneyline/Spread | -105 / +1.5 |
| Total | 24.5 |
| Time | Saturday · 4:30 p.m. ET |

I’m expecting a tight game between the Waterdogs and Whipsnakes, so I don’t have a bet on a side or total. I do like a few player props for this game though.
First, I’m expecting a strong game from Kieran McArdle. The veteran lefty has scored multiple goals in 14 of his last 22 games and with CJ Kirst not available, he’ll be relied on even more heavily on Saturday. Bet Kieran McArdle Over 1.5 Goals at -130 on FanDuel.
I also expect a big game from Maryland’s Aidan Carroll, who will likely start on attack to begin the season. Expect him to be heavily involved as a scorer and feeder. Bet Aidan Carroll Over 2.5 Points at +108 on FanDuel.
Picks: Kieran McArdle Over 1.5 Goals, Aidan Carroll Over 2.5 Points
Denver Outlaws at Utah Archers
Denver Moneyline/Spread | -178 / -1.5 |
Utah Moneyline/Spread | +144 / +1.5 |
| Total | 22.5 |
| Time | Saturday · 7 p.m. ET |

Odds via FanDuel
Saturday night features another clash between Western Conference rivals as Utah hosts Denver in their second game of the weekend. I spoke about how I liked Over 22.5 at -110 on BetMGM in my USA Lacrosse Magazine preview given the numerous defensive players missing for both the Archers and Outlaws. In addition to the standard total, I also recommend betting a 0.5 unit on the alternate total of Over 24.5 at +172 on FanDuel.
I’m also expecting another one of my early MVP candidates in Brennan O’Neill to start the season off strong against this depleted Utah defense. I expect we’ll see him more as a goal scorer on Saturday night and recommend betting Brennan O’Neill Over 2.5 Goals at -113 on FanDuel.
Without Pat Kavangh or Jared Bernhardt in the lineup, I also see Dalton Young having a larger role and we could see him take some runs on attack. Bet 0.3 unit on Dalton Young to score a 1st quarter goal at +220 on FanDuel.
Update to preview (May 9 at 9:16 am ET)
On Friday night, we got word that Jared Bernhardt would be suiting up for Denver. With Pat Kavanagh still absent, expect Bernhardt to start at attack against a potentially tired and less than full-strengthed Archers defense. While Utah’s defense played fine on Friday night, Bernhardt should be able to take advantage of a defense lacking Graeme Hossack and Warren Jeffrey. Bet Jared Bernhardt Over 2.5 Points at +128 on FanDuel.
Picks: Over 22.5, Alt Over 24.5 (0.5 unit), Brennan O’Neill Over 2.5 Goals, Dalton Young 1Q Goal Scorer (0.3 unit), Jared Bernhardt Over 2.5 Points
